About The Owner
Built on Experience in Telecom and Tower Work
FOS Tower is led by Adam Scott, who brings over 15 years of hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry. His background includes working on complex wireless internet systems, point-to-point networks, and tower infrastructure ranging from small residential setups to large-scale towers supporting thousands of users.
After successfully building and selling his telecom business, Adam went on to found Valley Nerds, a technology services company focused on reliable, real-world solutions. With FOS Tower, he continues to apply his experience in tower installation, maintenance, and repair — delivering safe, professional work for both residential and commercial clients across the Ottawa Valley.
Our Roots
The Story Behind FOS
Where It All Began
In the 1950s, Felix Oliver Scott (Adam’s Grandpa), known as Oliver, ran a television tower and antenna business in Sharbot Lake. He built and repaired towers, installed antennas, and worked throughout Sharbot Lake and the surrounding area.
In those days, a clear television signal often depended on a tower and a rooftop antenna. Every property was different, and every installation brought its own challenges. Oliver would install new systems, repair towers, replace antennas, and fabricate or modify parts when something could not simply be bought off the shelf.
There aren’t many photographs from those years, but the ones that remain provide a small window into the beginnings of the family’s connection to tower work.
Learning the Trade
Frank Oliver Scott (Adam’s Dad) began helping his father when he was about 10 years old. What started with carrying tools and helping on installations eventually led to climbing towers himself. After Oliver was no longer able to climb, Frank continued doing tower work for several more years before leaving Sharbot Lake to study electrical engineering in Kingston and eventually in Thunder Bay.
Frank went on to build a long career in telecommunications, working as a Research and Development engineer and System Architect with several companies, including Bell Northern Research, Northern-Telecom, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia Networks. Although his career moved in a different direction, communications remained at the heart of his career.
The name FOS comes from the initials of Felix Oliver Scott and Frank Oliver Scott. It reflects the family connection to tower work and the two generations that inspired the company.

“I had reached out to FOS Tower last week about removing an antenna and tower. Adam came this morning and the job was done in a couple hours.
Efficient and professional service. Quick response time. Highly recommend FOS Tower”
Marva

“I needed extra height for my TV antenna, and Adam went above and beyond! He added a new section to my tower, installed a new longer top pole for the TV antenna, and improved the safety of the tower with a more secure mounting at the roof peak. He was also able to re-install my Internet antenna on the new, higher mast. Now I get all the extra OTA TV channels I wanted!”
Ken

“Did a great job. Adam is a great guy and easy to communicate with and got the job done quickly for a fair price. Would recommend for anyone looking to get their old TV tower removed.”
Kyle

“Excellent service regarding the removal of our old TV antenna and tower. Efficiently and safely completed with no mess left behind. Thank you for a job well done.”

“I hired Adam at Valley Nerds to take down 50 foot tower, satellite dish and internet modem. It was on the side of my house and no longer needed because I finally have fibre (WTC). Tower was such an eyesore. He was out here today in the pouring rain and took everything down and got rid of it. He did a great job. Would highly recommend.”
